China Unicom Helps Build Digital CIIE

Updated: November 05, 2021

China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd. (China Unicom) has built a smart, fast, safe and controllable 5G network to guarantee cybersecurity at the fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

China Unicom has built a space-ground integrated comprehensive digital network for the expo. The company launched carrier aggregation at 66 base stations at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the main venue of the expo, and surrounding areas, which realized continuous coverage through a 200M conditional access (CA) system. This means that people can experience 5G speed by carrying a CA terminal.

The extremely high download speed of the 5G stand-alone network, which can reach over 2Gbps, is a highlight at the venue.

China Unicom launched China's first new radio (NR) 300M dedicated network at the expo's media center this year, which can make full use of spectrum resources.

The technology can play an outstanding role in scenarios with high internet demand, large population and high flexibility like press conferences, concerts, sports events and exhibitions. After its trial operation at the expo, the NR 300M technology will be promoted in the entire area of Shanghai.

To guarantee stable internet communication and effective prevention of cyber attacks during the expo, China Unicom has built a cybersecurity risk perceptive platform that forms a smart and automatic security defense system.

Before the expo, the company carried out internet testing, network maintenance and error clearing. Staff members of China Unicom assessed signal strength, connection rates, web browsing experience, video-on-demand and interferometric analysis to test the improved 5G network and continue to optimize smart operation capacity.
