Construction of the Honghu water purification plant project in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, has been completed. It is China's first underground water purification plant to be equipped with 5G technology.
Located in Honghu Park in Luohu District, the plant will improve water quality and the surrounding environment.
Covering about 32,400 square meters, the project was built in two phases by First Harbour Engineering Company Ltd., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC).
The first phase included construction of a two-story underground frame with a shear wall structure, while the second phase saw the construction of a biochemical pool and membrane bioreactor pool.
The company was also responsible for the supporting parts of the project, including comprehensive management housing, pipeline networks, landscaping and general plot planning.
Upon operation, the plant will use its wireless 5G network to realize fully-automatic production, operation and real-time monitoring.
The plant could handle as much as 50,000 cubic meters of sewage daily, contributing to the upgrade and transformation of Shenzhen's water treatment system.
