Last Section of World's First Ring-Shaped Desert Railway Completes Track Laying

Track laying of the Hetian-Ruoqiang Railway linking Hetian in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Ruoqiang county in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was completed on Sept 27.

It marked the connection of the two sides of the ring-shaped railway around the Taklimakan Desert.

A major railway construction project in China, the 825.48-kilometer Hetian-Ruoqiang Railway started construction in December 2018 and is scheduled to open for service in June 2022.
