Taihu Tunnel, China's longest under-lake tunnel that runs through the Taihu Lake scenic spot, was recently dug through.
A key section of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou South Highway, the six-lane tunnel is 10.79 kilometers long and 43.6 meters wide.
Once operational, the project is expected to link the ring roads of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou in Jiangsu Province, which will relieve traffic pressure on the Shanghai-Nanjing Highway and promote development in the three cities and the economic growth of the Yangtze River Delta region.
