First 1 Million Ultra-Supercritical Generator Unit in Sichuan Goes into Operation

Updated: October 09, 2021

The No. 1 generator unit of the Tianming Power Plant in Southwest China's Sichuan Province recently completed a 168-hour full-load trial operation, becoming the first 1 million ultra-supercritical generator unit in the province to go into service.

Generally contracted by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China Group), the power project is designed with two generator units.

The most energy-conserving and environmentally-protective technologies are being used in the project in order to improve their coal-firing efficiency. The project is also utilizing coordinated pollutant treatments in order to reduce emissions.

Once operational, the plant is expected to produce 10 billion kilowatt-hours of power annually, making it the largest thermal power plant in northwestern Sichuan. The plant will meet increasing demand for power in the province, improve the regional power grid and power source structure and support social and economic development in the area.
