State Power Investment Corporation has witnessed a six-fold increase of its installed photovoltaic capacity in the past five years, making the company a leader in solar installed capacity growth worldwide, a company official said.

The increase has exceeded 35 million kilowatts, ranking first on the global stage, company chairman Qian Zhimin said.

The cumulative power generated by solar has exceeded 130 billion kilowatt hours so far, equivalent to almost 100 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, he said.

The installed power capacity using clean energy has also exceeded 70 million kilowatts, with that of renewable energy exceeding 100 million.

According to Wang Bohua, honorary president of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, photovoltaic power generation system prices have decreased 4.3 times from 2011 to 2020, with for-unit price decreasing more than 5.7 times during the same period.
