First Polar Crane Bridge Completes Integral Hoisting at Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant

Updated: September 28, 2021

The polar crane bridge of the No. 1 generator unit at Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant in East China's Fujian Province, an engineering project that uses Hualong One technology, recently completed integral hoisting.

It was the first time that a polar crane bridge was hoisted as a whole in a Hualong One nuclear power generator unit. The completion of this process has laid a solid foundation for main facility construction and internal dome hoisting.

The polar crane bridge is a key part of the plant's ring hoisting equipment, which is one of the plant's most important lifting appliances.

The equipment, placed on the roof of the plant's reactor workshop, will be used to install heavy equipment like steam generators, reactor pressure vessels, voltage stabilizers and internal reactor equipment, as well as underloading facilities.

It will also be used to refuel and repair the facility. The hoisting was completed with the help of a 3,200-ton crawler crane.
