"Starry Sky", the largest sponge park in Shanghai and one of the key national pilot sponge city projects, opened to the public on Aug 16.
Built by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, with the Design-Build-Operate (DBO) mode, the project is located in the Lingang Special Area of the Pudong New Area.
Covering 575,000 square meters, it has 413,000 sq m of green space and is a platform for various activities such as star-gazing, wetland sightseeing, marine science popularization, and water interaction.
It is committed to being a new business card of the core area of Lingang and of the urban construction and development of Shanghai.
Integrated with drainage, impounding, seepage and water cleaning systems, the park is expected to drain well even hit by heavy rainfall.
