POWERCHINA Completes Key Integrated Water Project in Mozambique

Updated: August 19, 2021

The Nacala Water Distribution Center project in Mozambique, contracted to Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), has received its performance certificate, marking the official end of the project's warranty period and the successful completion of all contract content.

A key source of employment in Nacala, the project mainly included the installation of submersible centrifugal pumps, construction of the concrete circular pools and 33-kilovolt high-voltage lines, and telemetry.

Once operational, it is expected to provide 80,000 cubic meters of clean domestic water for local residents daily, which will greatly relieve local water shortages. The project will also play a crucial role in boosting the sustainable economic development of the country and improving living standards.

A result of the Belt and Road Initiative, the water distribution center is a reflection of the win-win cooperation between China and Mozambique.

Mozambique has been a key region along the ancient Maritime Silk Road and has welcomed new power-related landmarks as development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
