The world's first 500kV/90kA economical high-voltage alternating current (AC) limiter developed by China XD Group (XD Company) recently completed manual short-circuit testing and started trial operation at the 500kV Guangnan Station of the Shunde-Guangzhou Line A in South China's Guangdong Province.
The project was highly valued by XD Company and was a result of cooperation of many XD Company subsidiaries and universities like Xi'an Jiaotong University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
Its operation is expected to be an economical and reliable solution to suppression of high-voltage AC short-circuit currents and will contribute to stable operation of an ultra-high-voltage large power grid.
