The N8 highway reconstruction and expansion project in Bangladesh has been completed and delivered to its buyer.
An artery to link Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, and Khulna, the highway is also a main section of the Asian Highway Network.
Contracted by China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), the project included construction of a roadbed, road surface, interchange, railroad under-bridges, continuous box girder bridges and culverts along the 13.8-kilometer highway.
It's worth noting that the single-horn-shaped and clover leaf-shaped interchanges are the first of their kind in the country.
N8 is expected to be the first enclosed highway in Bangladesh and will greatly shorten travel time between Dhaka and Khulna. It will contribute to connectivity and economic development between the capital city and the southwestern regions.
