Updated: July 22, 2021

A consortium of four China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China Group)'s subsidiaries has signed a PPP contract with the Tianjin Water Works Construction Affairs Center on the renovation of the third phase project of the Jingu wastewater treatment plant and pool zones in the surrounding area.

The consortium will set up a company for and invest more than 4.6 billion yuan ($709.78 million) in the project, as well as be responsible for its construction.

Including the renovation of one wastewater treatment plant and four pool zones, the project is expected to be able to handle 450,000 tons of wastewater and 700 tons of sludge every day, making it the largest of its kind in the last five years in China.

Once operational, the project will improve wastewater treatment and the urban water environment of Tianjin. It will also contribute to the urbanization of southern parts of Tianjin.
