Key Bridge in Greater Bay Area Opens to Traffic

Updated: July 14, 2021

The Mingzhuwan Bridge in Nansha New Area of Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong Province, opened to traffic on June 28.

Constructed by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, it has the largest span, 436 meters, of the world's double-decker bridges with three main truss arches.

The whole bridge stretches 9.1 kilometers with a 2.64-kilometer main part. It links the downtown of Guangzhou, Hong Kong International Airport, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, and Guangzhou South Railway Station.

A landmark and geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the bridge is expected to tighten traffic connections between the initial area of the Mingzhu Bay, the Guangdong-Hong Kong in-depth cooperation demonstration zone and the Nansha Bay Area and become a new regional artery.

Passengers can take the bridge to travel between the centers of the main cities in the Greater Bay Area within 30 minutes.

It's worth mentioning that more than 30 national patents, three foreign patents and over 20 patents for invention and technological achievements were applied during the three-year construction.
