China's first large offshore floating wind power generator unit - a key breakthrough in terms of the country's floating wind power industry - came off the production line in South China's Guangdong Province on May 26.
Jointly developed by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) and Mingyang Group, the turbine has complete intellectual property rights and is to be used in a floating offshore wind power prototype project contracted by CTG's China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co., Ltd.
With an installed capacity of 5,500 kilowatts per generator, the generator unit is expected to be capable of providing clean power for 30,000 households annually.
