CCCC Completes Construction on Mexico's Largest Port

Updated: June 07, 2021

Construction of the Hutchison container terminal, container yard and housing project at the port of Veracruz in Mexico has been completed by China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC). The port has surpassed the Port of Manzanillo to become the largest one in the country.

Located along the southwestern bank of the Bay of Campeche and neighboring the southwestern part of the Gulf of Mexico, the project involved the construction of two berths, a storage yard covering more than 400,000 square meters and supporting facilities. It can meet the berthing demands of 200,000-ton freighters.

Once operational, the port is expected to improve port infrastructure in Mexico, which is of great significance to international trade in the country and Latin America at large.
