Power Components for First Shore Power Connection Project in Bohai Sea Ready for Shipment

Updated: April 20, 2021

The last components of the shore power connection project at the Qinhuangdao 32-6 and Caofeidian 11-1 oilfields in the Bohai Sea, were completed on April 6 and are ready for shipment to the offshore construction sites.

Each component of the power platform weighs about 4,000 tons.

Construction of the project, the first of its kind in the Bohai Sea, started on Aug 28, 2020. It is a major project to improve output and oil storage in the region and a highlight of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC)'s green and low-carbon strategy.

A large-scale offshore oilfield power platform intending to replace traditional electrical energy sources like coal and oil, the project is expected to supply inland-generated power for offshore production and to benefit environmental protection, stabilize production, reduce labor and other costs and shorten the construction period of conventional oilfields.
