Ren Hongbin Meets Erick Thohir, Indonesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprises

On April 2, entrusted by Hao Peng, Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), Ren Hongbin, Vice Chairman of SASAC, met with Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises of Indonesia, in Nanping, Fujian Province, and gave him a letter from Hao. The two sides exchanged ideas on state-owned enterprises (SOE) reform, making SOEs stronger, better and bigger, as well as the international operation of SOEs. They agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of state-owned assets and SOEs, and jointly implement a series of consensuses reached between President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo.

Ren briefed on the reform and development of Chinese SOEs. He pointed out that SOEs are the mainstay of China's national economy. As China embarks on a new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects, it will unswervingly make the state-owned assets and SOEs stronger, bigger and better, give full play to the strategic supporting role of the state-owned economy and accelerate the building of world-class enterprises.

He said that under the guidance of key consensuses reached by President Xi and President Joko Widodo, the state capital and SOE cooperation between the two countries enjoy solid foundation and broad prospect. SASAC is willing to establish partnerships and dialogue mechanisms with the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises of Indonesia, strengthen experience sharing on reform and governance, enhance pragmatic cooperation and mutual benefit between SOEs of the two countries, join hands to fight the pandemic and push for economic recovery, and contribute to an in-depth development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Erick applauded the achievements of China's SOE reform and agreed to establish bilateral cooperation mechanisms. He pointed out that Indonesia recognizes the importance of SOEs in economic development and people's livelihood and is proactively working on SOE reform, integration and internationalization. He hopes to take China as a compass, learn from China's successful experiences to enhance the global competence of Indonesian SOEs and push for concrete results for both countries in SOE-related cooperation.

Before the meeting, Ren also attended the meeting between State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.
