The technology of laying railway tracks on a neighboring line of the one where the track-laying machine operates was used for the first time in construction of the Chongqing section of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway in China on March 17.
The technology dispenses with return and track-switching by the track-laying tractor and reduces the time required for machine adjustment, which is estimated to cut the track-laying period by a half.
