China-Made Heavy-Lift Semi-Submersible Platform Departs for Trial Operation

The Hai Shi 5 heavy-lift semi-submersible platform departed from East China's Jiangsu Province on Feb 20, 2021 for propeller installation and trial navigation.

Completely developed by the Jiangsu branch of China Merchants Industry Holdings Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Merchants Group, the platform is 137.75 meters long and 81 meters wide and has a maximum height of 96.3 meters above the sea.

It can be used to remove seabed structure, foundation and mooring equipment.

What's more, it can help produce oil and gas, install modules and wind power devices, provide underwater services and support others.

The platform accommodates 750 staff members.
