New Railway to Contribute to Resource Development, Transport in Guizhou

The Weng'an-Machangping Railway in Southwest China's Guizhou Province recently opened for service, and is expected to lower transport costs of local phosphorus chemical enterprises.

A major railway to support resource development in Guizhou, it links the Wengfu phosphorus chemical base, one of the three largest phosphorus chemical bases, to other regions.

With a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour, the south-to-north railway is about 73 kilometers long and has five stations.

Road & Bridge International Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited, is responsible for construction of the third section of the railway which includes 12 bridges and 10 tunnels. Among them, the Yinzhan Bridge and the Lujiazhai Tunnel are key sections.

The second phase of the project is scheduled to expand the railway to 219 kilometers.
