Rotor of Baihetan Hydropower Station's 6th 1 Million kW Hydropower Unit Hoisted

The rotor of the sixth hydropower unit of the Baihetan Hydropower Station on the Jinsha River on the border of Southwest China's Sichuan and Yunnan provinces was hoisted on Jan 31, 2021, kicking off the general assembly of the hydropower unit.

The rotor is the heaviest core component of a hydro-generator. The rotor hoisted on Jan 31 weighs about 2,440 tons and has an outer diameter of 16.5 meters and a maximum height of 3.86 meters.

Made of new materials and employing advanced technologies, the rotor meets required quality standards of China Three Gorges Corporation.

With a total installed capacity of 16 million kW, the Baihetan Hydropower Station has eight generator units on each bank of the river and the world's largest installed capacity per unit.
