Subway Line 15 in Shanghai, China's first high level self-driving subway line, recently began trial operation.
Winding through five administrative districts in Shanghai, the 42.3-kilometer subway has 30 stations and is a major traffic line in western Shanghai.
The Electrification Engineering Co., Ltd of China Railway 14th Group, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), was responsible for installation of the line's communication and signal systems.
Advanced technologies like wireless communication based on a fourth generation mobile system was used on the line, which was the first time such technology had been used in Shanghai's rail transit system.
The technology will improve passengers' travel experience by providing better internet connection on the trains.
A face recognition system is used in video surveillance areas, which will improve safe operation in the stations and provide basic data for the public security system.
Several other subsidiaries of CRCC also contributed to the project.
