Construction of the four major venues for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in Yanqing district in Beijing, which started in 2017, was recently completed.
The venues, primarily designed by China Construction Technology Consulting Co., Ltd., are the National Alpine Skiing Center, the National Sliding Center, the Yanqing Winter Olympic Village and the media center.
The first two are the only such venues in China. Alpine skiing and sledging competitions will be held there.
The National Alpine Skiing Center, with seven ski tracks, will be able to accommodate as many as 8,000 spectators.
With a platform set at 2,198 meters in altitude, the center has a structure with the highest altitude in Beijing.
All tracks have been approved by the International Ski Federation and are ready for sports events.
The National Sliding Center, with a 1,975-meter U-shaped concrete track, was the most difficult of the four venues to design and build. All sledging events will be held there.
After the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the venues will become training and competition sites for athletes from all over the world and at the same time serve as winter sports centers for the public.
