Ganlin-1, China's first large unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for meteorological data collection and environmental protection, completed its maiden flight in Northwest China's Gansu Province on Jan 6, 2021.
Independently developed by Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd., the UAV is expected to contribute to development of systematic ecological protection.
During the flight, the UAV showed stable performance in functions like ice removal, atmospheric sounding and catalyst spraying.
It's worth mentioning that the UAV involves lower costs and can work for longer periods than manned aircraft, according to its developer.
