Wind power capacity connected to the grid in South China's Guangdong Province exceeded 1 million kilowatts as the eight wind blowers at the Zhuhai Jinwan Offshore Wind Farm were put into operation on Dec 30, 2020.
The capacity increased by more than 259 percent beyond that of 2019.
A major green energy project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Zhuhai Jinwan Offshore Wind Farm is the first of the second offshore wind power projects in Guangdong to begin operations.
It has a total installed capacity of 300,000 kW and is expected to provide more than 729 million kWh of power annually.
With its long coastline, Guangdong has rich wind power, and construction of wind power projects with more than 8 million kW of installed capacity is underway.
