Beijing-Xiongan intercity railway
The Beijing-Xiongan intercity railway, the first main railway linking Beijing and Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province, as well as its supporting facilities, opened for operation on Dec 27.
The railway will shorten travel time between the capital and Beijing Daxing International Airport and Xiongan to 50 minutes and 19 minutes respectively.
A key section of the railway linking Beijing and Hong Kong, the Beijing-Xiongan intercity railway improves the country's railway network, relieves Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as the capital, boosts development of Xiongan New Area and promotes the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The Xiongan Railway Station was Asia's largest of its kind and the first infrastructure project in the region.
Many central SOEs in fields of construction, materials, power, energy and telecommunications contributed to the project.
