Dongfang 13-2 gas field
The Dongfang 13-2 gas field, China's largest offshore high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) gas field project, went into operation on Nov 25.
Located 120 kilometers west of Dongfang, South China's Hainan Province, the gas field is designed to have a peak annual gas output of more than 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is enough for 1 million people for 15 years.
Its operation is expected to play a key role in developing offshore gas resources, building China into a strong maritime country and ensuring national energy security.
The Dongfang 13-2 gas field was discovered and developed by China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
