New Section of Beijing-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway Opens for Service

Updated: January 07, 2021

The 162-kilometer Hefei-Anqing section of the Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railway opened for operation on Dec 22.

It is the first high-standard passenger railway section with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour primarily built by Anhui Province, and is expected to be a model for construction of such railways in Anhui.

Hefei and Anqing in Anhui Province are key hubs of several major high-speed railways like the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou, the Hefei-Nanning, the Hefei-Fuzhou and the Nanning-Anqing.

Operation of the section will shorten travel time between regions in affected areas, contribute to the local tourism industry, boost high-quality economic and social development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt and further regional integration of the Yangtze River Delta.

In addition, it will be a key part of China's railway network and will improve the quality and transport capacity of high-speed railways.

Designed by China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), the railway was built by several CRCC subsidiaries.
