Main Body of China-Laos Railway's Luang Prabang Station Roofed

The main body of Luang Prabang Station of the China-Laos Railway's section between Boten and Vientiane was recently roofed.

Contracted by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, the station covers about 8,000 square meters and can handle as many as 1,200 passengers.

A major station for both freight and passenger transport, Luang Prabang Station was designed with elements of the Wat Xieng Thong and the Royal Palace Museum as well as mountains in Laos and Buddhist wall paintings.

With a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour, the 422.4-kilometer Boten-Vientiane section is an electrified freight and passenger railway built to Chinese technical and management standards.

The section is scheduled to go into operation in December 2021 and is expected to boost tourism, trade and investment and to promote economic and social development in Laos.
