The first main railway linking Beijing and Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province, Beijing-Xiongan intercity railway opened to traffic on Dec 27, shortening travel time between the capital and Xiongan.
The 91-kilometer railway contains a section of the existing Beijing-Kowloon Railway and has a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
The first section between the Beijing West Railway Station and Beijing Daxing International Airport went into service this September. The newly operable 59-kilometer section connects the airport to Gu'an, Bazhou and Xiongan in Hebei.
China Railway Construction Corporation Limited participated in the whole chain of the railway's construction including the track-laying, housing and electricity.
The Beidou satellite navigation system, building information modeling and big data technologies were used to improve the project's engineering efficiency and quality.
The opening of the railway also marked opening of the Xiongan Railway Station, which was the first major infrastructure constructed in the area.
