Renovation of the curling venue of the Ice Cube for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics was recently completed, the first of its kind to close construction.
As the Ice Cube was renovated based on the National Aquatics Center, dubbed the Water Cube, for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, it will be the world's first sports venue for the Olympic Games to build a curling rink over swimming pools and the world's first ice-aquatic dual-use sports center.
Contracted by China Construction First Group Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the project covers an area of about 50,000 square meters, and includes construction of water-ice switch structures and installation of a removable ice-making system.
The venue will also be equipped with a smart temperature monitoring system to meet temperature requirements of the curling competition and create a comfortable temperature for the spectators.
