The Yanqing comprehensive traffic service center in Yanqing district, Beijing, started operation on Dec 1, the same day that the Yanqing branch line of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway and the suburban railway S2 line went into operation.
The Yanqing traffic service center will also function as a transfer center and a railway station of the Yanqing branch line and S2 line, as well as a parking lot.
Various kinds of transit services like high-speed trains, suburban trains, buses, taxis and bikes will be provided there.
Construction of the center started in December 2018 and was contracted by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited.
During construction, all welding was carried out within a carbon-dioxide protective cover, which effectively lowered emission of poisonous gases.
Workers at the project also paid attention to pre-treatment and categorization of sanitary sewage and domestic wastes as well as noise elimination.
The center is a major traffic supporting facility of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. After the event, it will continue to serve daily commuting in Yanqing district and local tourism.
It's worth mentioning that elements of landmarks in Yanqing that are related to the Winter Olympics, the International Horticultural Exhibition, the Badaling Great Wall and Haituo Mountain will feature in the transfer center's decor.
A main part of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, the Yanqing branch line is expected to shorten travel time between the downtown and Yanqing to half an hour and will contribute to integration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional transportation.
