Track-laying of the Mudanjiang-Jiamusi High-speed Railway in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, the easternmost line of its kind in China's high and cold areas, was completed on Nov 30.
The longest high-speed railway under construction in Heilongjiang, the railway is a major project of China's medium- and long-term railway network plan and the country's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).
With a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour, the 371.6-kilometer railway has eight stations.
Due to the extremely low temperature, technologies to resist frostbite swelling and snow damage were developed to guarantee construction efficiency and quality.
The landform of low mountains and hills also added difficulty to the construction.
The railway will promote construction of the high-speed railway network in Northeast China and form a ring line in East Heilongjiang by connecting with the Harbin-Mudanjiang High-speed Railway and the Harbin-Jiamusi express railway.
The ring line will shorten travel time between Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang, and other cities in affected areas to within three hours, which will promote involvement of cities in east Heilongjiang in development of the Harbin-Changchun Megalopolis.
What's more, the improved high-speed network will play a role in boosting industrial relocation, industrial coordination and regional coordinated development.
China Railway 14th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, was responsible for track-laying of the section between Jiamusi and Qitaihe.
