The expansion project of the Laiwu-Linyi section of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway in Shandong province was completed and opened to traffic on Nov 26.
After work contracted by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the improved 30.02-kilometer highway has eight lanes and a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
The highway now has better transport capacity and improved traffic conditions, which is expected to develop regional economy and tourism industry in affected areas.
What's more, as a part of Shandong's highway network and transport system the refurbished highway is expected to play a role in the province's replacement of old economic growth drivers with new ones.
