Two intercity railways in South China's Guangdong province went into service on Nov 30, which is expected to promote regional economic integration in Guangzhou and Qingyuan.
The newly opened section of the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway links Huadu and Qingcheng districts in Guangzhou, and has a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The section between Huadu and the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport of Guangzhou East Ring Intercity Railway is 22.6 kilometers long and allows trains to operate as fast as 160 kilometers per hour.
A main force in urban railway system construction, China Railway Group Limited has played a role in the two railways in construction of subgrades, culverts, tunnels, underground stations, housing and rails, power supply and communication systems.
The two railways are independently invested and operated by Guangdong and are parts of the intercity railway network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Their operation will improve Guangdong's rail transit system and accelerate traffic infrastructure construction in the northeast areas of the province.
