The Weifang-Laixi high-speed railway in Shandong province that opened to traffic on Nov 26 will greatly shorten travel time in affected areas.
The 126-kilometer railway is the first high-speed railway to pass Pingdu county in Qingdao and Changyi in Weifang.
Pingdu is the largest county in Shandong and a transportation hub linking Qingdao, Weifang and Yantai as well as a center of Shandong's manufacturing industry.
Changyi is the home of silk and bromine in China. Both counties are in the Bohai Economic Rim area, one of China's largest economic circles.
The railway will be a green passage between cities in east and west Shandong and will shorten travel time between Jinan and Yantai to two hours.
The first four sections of the project was invested and built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation.
