New Highway to Boost Shandong Development

Updated: November 20, 2020

The section linking Ningyang and Liangshan counties of the Dongjiakou-Liangshan Expressway in Shandong province recently opened to traffic, improving the transportation network in the province.

Intending to connect Jining and Tai'an, the four-lane highway is about 110 kilometers and has a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

Traveling along the highway, people will be able to transit the Dongpinghu interchange overpass, the largest of its kind in Shandong, and the 22,000-ton swivel bridge that stretches over the Beijing-Kowloon Railway.

Upon completion, the highway is expected to promote connectivity between Shandong and Central China. It will also play a role in port development and in improving the investment environment, lifting old revolutionary bases and mountainous areas from poverty and driving the tourism industry in affected areas.
