China Resources Group's hope towns
Since 2008 China Resources (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (China Resources Group) has invested more than 800 million yuan ($119.04 million) in construction of nine hope towns in Baise of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Xibaipo of Hebei province, Shaoshan of Hunan province, Gutian of Fujian province, Zunyi of Guizhou province, Jinzhai of Anhui province, Jinggangshan of Jiangxi province, Haiyuan of Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Hong'an of Hubei province.
The hope town projects are intended to improve housing environment of farmers by renovating and reconstructing and to build ecological, green and vigorous villages with national characteristics by establishing collectives and developing new type rural collective economy.
Another three in Jianhe of Guizhou, Yan'an of Shaanxi province and Nanjiang of Sichuan province are now under construction.
Based on the poverty-alleviation model of improving environment, promoting projects, restructuring village organization and encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation, the company helped more than 100,000 people get rid of poverty and encouraged sustainable development in poverty-stricken areas.
