The new immigration inspection area at Hengqin Port went into operation on Aug 18, 2020, marking the opening of the Hengqin Port.
The only land port connecting Hengqin Island in Zhuhai and Macao, the port is a result of the cooperation between Guangdong and Macao and plays a key role in promoting diverse development in Macao.
It is estimated that 80 million people will travel between Hengqin Island and Macao through the port, making it a super port.
China National Machinery Industry Corporation Ltd (Sinomach) and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) contributed to the construction of the port.
