The Shantou Bay Bridge, China's first large-scale pre-stressed concrete suspension bridge, opened to traffic on Dec 28, 1995.
Also the first modern suspension bridge in the country, the bridge was designed and constructed by China Railway Group Limited and is a hub connecting the Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou and Xiamen special economic zones.
Located at the east entrance of Shantou Port, the 2,500-meter bridge has a traffic elevation of 46 meters and allows a 50,000-ton ship to pass.
