The Splendid China Scenic Area, developed by China National Travel Service (HK) Group Corporation, opened for service on Nov 22, 1989.
The first theme park in China, Splendid China received 4 million visitors the first year it opened, which greatly drove development of tourism and related industries in Shenzhen.
Former leader Deng Xiaoping, also visited the park during his visit to South China in 1992 and posed with his extended family there.
