Manufacturing of a 3,000-ton forge-welding hydrogenator for super slurry reactors, the world's first of its kind at such a heavy weight, was completed and shipped on Jun 1.
Its construction was proof of China's leading manufacturing technology in the field of super-large petrochemical equipment and showed the country's innovation capacity.
Contracted by China First Heavy Industries (CFHI), the 3,000-ton facility is more than 70 meters long and has an outer diameter of 6.15 meters.
The world's heaviest slurry bed forge-welding hydrogenator will contribute to improvement of China's petrochemical industrial structure and construction of one of the seven international petrochemical industrial bases in the country.
It is also expected to play a role in promoting construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
The forge-welding hydrogenator was built for Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical Co., Ltd. and is the core facility of a refining-chemical integration project that has an annual refining capacity of 40 million tons, the largest of its kind in the world under construction at present.
CFHI signed the agreement to build all six forge-welding hydrogenators on May 24, 2018. The one recently shipped is the first of them and the other five have the same scale.
As the heavy facility has a shell of 0.32 meters and complicated interior structures, the development team made several innovative designs for it.
For example, they developed a world leading 3,500-ton self-lifting digital carrier roller as a foundation for safe rotating welding of the heavy stuff.
