China succeeded in collecting samples of combustible ice in the Shenhu area of the South China Sea for the first time in May 2017.
Each cubic meter of the collected combustible ice can turn into 0.8 cubic meters of water and 164 cubic meters of natural gas.
Combustible ice is recognized as a clean and highly efficient alternative energy resource by the whole world. The collection played a significant role in improving China's energy structure and reducing reliance on resources like imported petroleum.
