The Chashma Nuclear Power Plant in Pakistan started operation on Jun 13, 2000.

Dubbed a model of South-South Cooperation and a result of China-Pakistan cooperation, the plant was constructed on the basis of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant in East China's Zhejiang Province.

Several key technological issues such as nuclear power plant construction on a soft soil foundation were solved.

In addition, the plant was designed and improved to internationally advanced nuclear power security standards, which raised the safety, reliability and economic efficiency of the generation units.

The operation of the plant was proof that China's capacity of self-designing, manufacturing and building nuclear power plants had reached a new level.
