Mombasa Nairobi Railway is Kenya's first new railway in a century. It spans 480 kilometers and has a designed transport capacity of 25 million tons, connecting Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, and Mombasa, the largest port in East Africa. The new railway was built and is operated by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), adopting Chinese standards. The picture shows Kenya's President Kenyatta waving a flag to launch the first train at the opening of the Mombasa Nairobi Railway on May 31, 2017.
