China Telecom Corporation Limited (China Telecom) has played a role in construction of the 5G-based smart factory of Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation.
The subsidiary is the largest refining and chemical integration enterprise in Central China and its newly-operated 5G smart factory has become the region's largest of its kind.
Its 5G-based application scenarios such as data collection and video surveillance, machine vision and 5G+MEC are all provided by China Telecom, enabling 360-degree safe and highly-efficient production.
The customized 5G network, which includes a central machine room and a dozen of 5G base stations, was specially developed to meet the requirements of stability, security and high controllability for oil production.
Based on the 5G network's low latency, large bandwidth and wide access, the factory realized wireless and high-speed transmission and response between devices and the control platform, as well as other functions like production monitoring, asset management, personnel allocation and access control security on the smart management platform.
The mode enhances production efficiency and at the same time improves data security.
According to Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical Company Limited, unmanned production will be developed in the future based on the 5G network, which will help reduce labor costs and realize automatic and intelligent manufacturing.
