China's First Domestic Shallow Water Subsea Wellhead Platform, Christmas Tree Development Project Starts Drilling

China's first domestic shallow water subsea wellhead platform and Christmas tree development project has broken ground in the Jinzhou waters of the Bohai Sea, according to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) in Tianjin.

The project is designed with two horizontal gas recovery wells and is scheduled to be completed within 103.5 days.

Over the past nearly three years of preparation, a number of discussions and surveys were conducted to draw the overall layout of the project and make plans for equipment processing and integration, land pool testing and offshore-land joint adjustment.

The company said that the project will adopt the China-made shallow water subsea wellhead platform and the Christmas tree system for the first time in the industry in the country, which will provide diversified solutions for development of oilfields of a similar type.
