Updated: 2022-05-25

A freight train carrying twenty 20-foot tank containers and over 500 metric tons of grain and oil departed from the Nansha Port South Station in South China's Guangdong Province on May 18.

It was the first sea-rail combined train dedicated for grain and oil transport linking the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), Nansha Port and the southwestern regions of China, and marked operation of a new logistic channel between Hainan FTP, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Southwest China regions, realizing non-stop transport from the Hainan FTP and the Greater Bay Area to Southwest China.

The train arrived at Nansha Port via sea transport from Hainan Yangpu International Container Terminal and then left for the southwestern regions. It is scheduled to arrive at the destination within seven days, about 12 days less than that of traditional transport, which greatly improves transport efficiency and delivery capacity.

The sea-rail combined freight train service between the Hainan FTP, the Greater Bay Area and Southwest China regions was jointly launched by China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING Group), Hainan Harbor & Shipping Logistics Group, Guangzhou Port Group, China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd., and China Railway Tielong Container Logistics Co., Ltd.
