The No. 5 generator unit of the Changlongshan Pumped Storage Power Station in East China's Zhejiang Province was put into service after a 15-day trial operation on May 4.
Operated by China Three Gorges Construction Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), the unit has a rated speed of 600 cycles per minute, the world's fastest of its kind, and an installed capacity of 350 megawatts.

Located in Anji, Changlongshan Pumped Storage Power Station has a total installed capacity of 2.1 million kilowatts and six 350-MW pumped storage units.
Five units have been in operation at the station since June 2021.
The station has contributed to peak dispatching and frequency and phase modulation of the power grid network in East China and has sent out more than 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours of power during peak periods of electricity consumption.
It has played a key role in improving the power regulation capacity of power grids and optimizing the power supply structure in eastern regions of China, and contributed to development of new energy and construction of a new power system.
The last generator unit of the station is now under hydrostatic adjustment and is scheduled to undergo trials on May 15.
The station is to start operating at full load in late June of this year.
