A Chinese state-owned company won recognition for a smart transportation project at the 5th APEC ESCI Best Practice Awards recently, contributing to the development of clean energy in the transportation sector.
The project — "Battery Change Electric Heavy Truck: A case of Low Carbon Transportation in China" — was developed by State Power Investment Corp and won the gold award out of 65 projects in 17 economies.
The heavy truck in the project is a new means to implement clean transportation in short- and medium-distance transportation scenarios such as mines, steel mills and ports.
The project has proposed to use an electric truck and battery separately, with a low battery able to be changed quickly. The company has also introduced a "power battery bank" for electric trucks to manage and distribute batteries.
All heavy trucks can rent a new battery and change it at a power station in a short time. It now takes about five minutes to change a battery for a heavy truck, greatly improving the efficiency of charging electric heavy trucks.
